Early Goal Leads To 1-0 Tapioca-Style Loss

MORRIS, Minn. (10/2214)—Concordia gave up a goal in the 10th minute of play going against a heavy wind, couldn't capitalize in the second half with the wind and lost 1-0 at Minn.-Morris.

The Cobbers lost the coin toss and had to play into a 20-25mph wind for the entire first half of play. Concordia gave up the only goal of the game at the 9:45 mark when a Cougar attacker was left open at the top of the penalty area and he was able to bury a shot in the top right corner of the net.

Concordia's best chances of the game came in the first half and both splattered off the crossbar. Sophomore Matthew Fulks had a shot glance off the bar before the Morris goal and then junior Dami Adegunle had a shot from 18 yards out hit squarely off the crossbar and carom away from goal. CC also had several chances go across the face of the goal courtesy of crosses from the wing.

The Cobbers were never able to come up with a consistent offensive attack in the second period with most of the play in the final 45 minutes being contained to the middle part of the field.

Concordia was credited with eight total shots with only shot on goal. Senior Jon Tetlie had the only shot on goal for CC when headed a shot on frame from eight yards out off of a corner kick. Fulks had a team-high four shots for the Cobbers.

Alan Scheuermann made seven saves in goal for Concordia. He was making his second straight start and lowered his season goals against average to 2.32.

The Cobbers will finish off the 2014 season by playing three conference games on the road. CC will start their three-game MIAC road trek on Saturday, Oct. 25 when they play at Carleton at 1p.m.
