January Halliday In Duluth

DULUTH, Minn. (1/18/25)---Tal Halliday's goal with 33 seconds left in overtime gave Concordia a 3-2 win over St. Scholastica and a sweep in the 2-game series.

The Cobbers never trailed in Game 2 as they took five of the possible six points in the MIAC standings on the weekend. The five points give CC nine on the year and get them to within a single point of a 2-way tie for fifth place. Concordia is now 7-9-1 in all games and 3-4-1 in league play.

Senior Isaac Henkemeyer-Howe gave Concordia its first lead of the game in the final minute of the first period. He took a feed from Caden Triggs and snapped home his team-leading sixth goal of the year. Triggs set up the goal by picking off a pass on the forecheck and feeding Henkemeyer-Howe who was barreling down between the faceoff circles.

St. Scholastica (8-8-1, 3-5-0 MIAC) earned their first tie of the game at 5:03 of the second period.

The Cobbers were able to take their second 1-goal lead of the game with another late-period goal. CC's second goal of the contest came when they were killing off a power play.

The goal was set up by senior Adam Brown who hustled to knock the puck off the boards and set up a 2-on-1 with Troy Dahlheimer. Brown sent a backhand pass to the top of the crease where Dahlheimer was able to get to the puck before the Saints' goalie. Dahlheimer swung his stick at the bouncing puck and it went over the goalie and into the net.

The strike at 18:16 was Dahlheimer's second of the year and Brown earned his first assist of the season.

The Saints tied the game for the second time when they scored at the 1:09 mark of the third period.

Concordia went on to outshoot St. Scholastica 7-6 in the third period but neither team was able to come up with the game winner.

The overtime period was all Concordia as they outshot CSS 6-0. The game appeared to be headed for a shootout but then Halliday took a pass from Mason Plante after Plante gained entry into the Saints' offensive zone. Plante's back pass gave Halliday a clear route to the goal after two Scholastica defenders ran into each other. Halliday left no doubt as he buried the puck to give CC the 3-2 win.

The game winner was Halliday's second game-winning goal of the year. He also netted the GWG in the Cobbers' win over Wis.-Eau Claire.
Concordia outshot the Saints 32-17 in the game and 78-46 for the 2-game series.

Dane Couture made 15 saves to record his second win of the weekend and seventh of the season.

The Cobbers will look to continue their success when they return home to host St. Olaf in a 2-game series on Jan. 24-25.
