SUPERIOR, Wis (1/10/25)---Concordia opened its 2025 road season by losing 7-1 at Wis.-Superior.
The loss ends a 1-game win streak for the Cobbers and moves their season record to 5-8-1. The Yellowjackets, who were in the "others receiving votes" category in the latest USCHO Division III rankings, won for the sixth straight game and are 11-3-1.
Superior was able to score two goals in each of the first and second periods and added three more in the third before junior Joe Harguindeguy got Concordia on the board at 19:08 of the final frame.
The two key goals for the Yellowjacket came at the end of the first and second periods. The Cobbers conceded a goal in the final minute of play in each period to give UWS the momentum heading into the second and third periods.
The other key in the game came on the power play. Superior scored four of their goals with the man advantage and went 4-for-7 while the Cobbers were 1-for-7 on the PP.
The goal by Harguindeguy was his fourth of the season and third in the last four games. Isaac Henkemeyer-Howe and Hunter Bjorge earned the assists on the Cobbers' lone strike. For Henkemeyer-Howe it was his team-leading seventh helper of the year and 12th overall point.
The Yellowjackets held a slight 33-31 edge in shots on goal for the game. Blaise Miller led CC with eight total shots and five shots on target.
Sophomore goalie Dane Couture got the start and played the first 45:22 and made 23 saves. Brock Moroz entered in the third period, played 14:38 and stopped three shots.
Concordia will finish off its 2025 non-conference schedule when they play Wis.-Stout in Menomonie, Wis. on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 7 p.m.
