Bio

Rachel Bergeson is the Interim Athletic Director, Senior Woman Administrator and Compliance Officer for Concordia-Moorhead College.

Bergeson became the first female in the history of the department to hold one of the top level administrative positions when she was named the Senior Woman Administrator and Compliance Officer in 2006. Bergeson then became Associate Athletic Director in 2011. She was then named the Interim Athletic Director in 2016 after Rich Glas announced his retirement.

Bergeson was named the Interim Athletic Director for the 2016-27 athletic season before stepping into her current role as Deputy Athletic Director in the summer 2017 following the hiring of Jeff Bretherton as the college’s first full-time Athletic Director.

Before her role as the top women’s administrator in the Concordia athletic department, Bergeson was the assistant coach for the Cobber women’s basketball team from 2007-11. During her time as the team’s full-time assistant coach Bergeson helped Concordia to a 92-43 overall record and a spot in the MIAC playoffs in five straight seasons.

Bergeson also played for Concordia during her undergraduate years. She graduated from Concordia in 2005 with a degree in Biology Education.

Following her years as a student at Concordia Bergeson taught 7th and 8th grade science in Braham, Minn. She was also the assistant varsity girls’ basketball coach and junior high volleyball coach during her stay at Braham from 2005-06.

Bergeson also holds a master’s degree in Health, Nutrition and Exercise Science with an emphasis in Sport Pedagogy and Sport Leadership from North Dakota State University.

Bergeson is the daughter of Concordia Hall of Fame baseball coach Bucky Burgau.

She lives in Moorhead with her husband Bryant and sons Tyden and Tate.
