Rowley Races To Cobber No.1 Spot At Wis.-Eau Claire
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (9/29/23)---It only took first-year runner Amelia Rowley three meets to step into the role as Concordia's No.1 runner. Rowley raced to a season-best time of 25:18.80, which helped the Cobbers place 21st at the Wis.-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational held at Whitetail GC in Colfax, Wis. – the site of this year's NCAA Regional Meet.
Rowley moved up steadily throughout the race, and her time over the 6K course was almost 3 seconds faster than her previous season-low mark, which she posted at the Running of the Cows Meet on Sept. 16.
Junior Drew Frolek and senior Elsie Hatlevig were close behind Rowley as the pair crossed the finish line within a second of one another. Frolek, competing in her first meet of the season, came home with a time of 25:35.20, which was her fastest time in the past two seasons. Hatlevig has been in the Cobbers' Top 3 all season long, and Friday was no different as she was shoulder-to-shoulder with Frolek and posted a time of 25.36.60.
First-year athlete Grace Ingebretsen had the biggest move up the standings from start to finish of any CC runner. She ran 25:54.20 to give the Cobbers four finishers under the 26-minute mark. Her time is a personal best by 23 seconds.
Airial Johnson was the last member of the Cobber scoring team, and she also posted a huge drop in her season-best time. Johnson crossed the line in a time of 26:20.90, which was her best time of the year by 38 seconds.
Londyn Ames gave head coach Maddie Van Beek three first-year runners in the Top 7 of the team finishers. She clocked a 27:58.40 which was a 49-second personal best.
