First-Year Duo Leads Cobbers At Season Opener

MOORHEAD, Minn. (9/8/23)---A pair of first-year runners led the Cobbers at the season-opening MSU Moorhead Twilight Meet held on the campus of MSUM.

Grace Ingebretsen and Amelia Rowley clocked times just over 16 minutes on the 4K course and finished in 37th and 38th place in their very first collegiate races.

The two helped Concordia record a seventh-place finish in a meet that featured 11 schools and 94 individual runners.

Ingebretsen was able to lead the Cobbers by posting a time of 16:03.8, which was 4-seconds faster than fellow freshman Rowley. Rowley crossed the line in a 16:07.8. The tandem were 10-seconds ahead of the next Concordia finishers.

Junior Airial Johnson and senior Elsie Hatlevig were the team's No.3 and No.4 finishers and down the finishing chute virtually side-by-side. Johnson clocked a 16:17.40 and Hatlevig was right off her shoulder with a mark of 16:17.90. Both runners recorded Top 50 finishes at the meet.

A third first-year runner was Concordia's No.5 finisher at the 2023 opener. Londyn Ames covered the course in a time of 17:44.00. She beat teammates Ava Chevalier and Eden Smith to the line as all three were within 8-seconds of one another.
