Youth Is Served At MSUM Twilight Meet
MOORHEAD, Minn. (9/10/21)---Youth was served in the second meet of the season for Concordia. First-year runners Drew Frolek and Eden Smith both posted Top 25 finishes to lead the Cobbers to a fifth-place team finish at the MSU Moorhead Twilight meet at Bluestem.
Concordia finished the meet with 131 team finish points which was only six points out of fourth place.
Frolek and Smith were the only Cobbers to cover the 4K course in under 15:45. Frolek led the team with a 15:39.5 and finished in 23rd place while Smith was close behind at 15:43.5 and placed 25th. The 1-2 finish for Frolek and Smith represents a climb up the team order for both athletes. Last week Frolek was the Cobbers' No.2 finisher while Smith was No.5 at the UND Invite.
Senior Isabel Fredrickson recorded her second straight Top 3 team finish. She was the third CC runner to cross the line on the Bluestem course. She ran a 15:46.0 which put her in the Top 30.
A pair of juniors finished off the Top 5 scorers at the even for CC. Amelia Landsverk posted a time of 16:02.2 , while Kelly Lorenz crossed the line in 16:18.2. The finishing time for Lorenz is almost a minute faster than her time as a freshman over the same course when she clocked a 17:13.4
UP NEXT: Concordia will have two weeks off before returning to competition at the Carleton Invite on Sept. 25 in Northfield.
