Top 2 Pace Cobbers At MIAC Meet

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (10/28/17)---The Gruenberg and Andersen show once again appeared the MIAC Championship Meet. Concordia's Top 2 runners claimed those spots at the conference race and helped the Cobbers finish ninth as a team.

All five of Concordia's top runners at the meet improved on their times from earlier in the year when they competed at the St. OIaf Invite on the same course.

Junior Brianna Gruenberg and sophomore Kara Andersen once again led Concordia at an event this season. The two have followed each other at the top of the CC running chart all year long.

Gruenberg ran a 23:46 and finished just outside the Top 30 at the meet. Her time was good enough for 32nd place at the event with 229 athletes. Gruenberg posted a time of 24:47 at the St. Olaf Invite on Sept. 16.

Andersen improved on her 58th-place finish from 2016 by running a 23:51 and placing 36th at this year's meet. She moved up 22 spots from her freshman season and her finishing time is a 1:28 improvement from earlier in the season.

There was almost a full minute between Andersen and the next Cobber finisher. Senior Maria West clocked a 24:33 in her final conference championship meet.

West was a full 45-seconds ahead of the team's No.4 and No.5 finishers. Sara Whiteman earned the No.4 spot for the Cobbers by running a 25:14. Senior Erica Hauf completed her conference career with a time of 25:23.

WHAT'S NEXT: Concordia will have a two-week break to train for the NCAA Central Region Meet which will be held at Carleton on Saturday, Nov. 11.
