Two-Week Break Ends At Roy Griak

ST. PAUL, Minn. (9/28/13)—Concordia returned to action after a two-week break and ran to an 18th-place finish at the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota.

The Cobbers used a pack mentality among its top 3 runners and finished in the top 10 among MIAC schools at the meet. CC was led by Morgan Christian who ran a 24:30.8 over the 6k course and placed 52nd. It is the second straight meet that Christian has led Concordia.

Christian's time was :08-seconds faster than teammate Melissa Uhrich who placed 62nd in a time of 24:38.7. Uhrich is the other CC athlete to lead the Cobbers at a meet. She had the best time at the season-opening Valley City Invite.

Hannah Knickerbocker finished in the No.3 spot for Concordia. She clocked a 24:54.9 and was 74th. The trio of runners was the only CC athletes in the top 125 at the meet.

Paige Rygg and Callie Christianson completed the top 5 for the Cobbers. Rygg, who like Christian and Knickerbocker is still recovering from an injury, ran a 25:59.0. Christianson was less than 40 seconds behind Rygg and came across the line in a time of 26:11.3 and placed 140th.

The Cobbers will once again have another two-week training period before returning to competition. Concordia will participate in the Jamestown Invitational on Friday, Oct. 11 at the Hillcrest GC at 4 p.m.
