4x200 Relay Team Sets School Record At Drake Relays

DES MOINES, IOWA (4/27/28)---The Cobber 4x200-meter relay quartet of Andie Sandman, Emily Rengo, Piper Osborne and Kyla Nygaard led a group of Concordia athletes who competed in at the Drake Relays.

The 4x200 team added the outdoor school record to their resume which already includes the indoor 4x200 program mark. Sandman, Rengo, Osborne and Nygaard posted a time of 1:43.20 at the Drake Relays which broke the previous school mark of 1:44.78 set in 2012 by Kaari Jensen, Alyssa Schmidt, Tatijana MullerDahlberg, Megan Hoffman also at the Drake Relays.

The other top mark over the weekend also came at the Drake Relays where first-year thrower Genevieve Gruba finished second in the college/university division among 20 competitors that were from Division I and II schools.

Gruba came through with a mark of 131-11, which was 11 inches better than the third-place finisher from the University of Kentucky. Gruba's mark was her season best and the top distance in the MIAC this season. The mark of 131-11 is also the sixth farthest in program history.

The other competitors at the Drake Relays all came from the relays. Osborne was joined by Sierra Ramberg, Meg Shercliffe and Drew Frolek in the sprint medley relay. The group crossed the line in 4:20.94 which is the sixth fastest mark in program history.

UP NEXT: Concordia's multi-event athletes will compete in the MIAC heptathlon on May 2-3, while the other members of the team will participate in the NDSU Bison Tune-Up on Friday, May 3.
