A Pair Of Goals 4:01 In the Second Half Drop Cobbers

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (10/22/22)---A pair of mini-breakaway goals 4-minutes apart in the second half was the difference in the Cobbers' game at St. Olaf.

The Oles scored the game-winning goals 4:01 apart starting in the 16th minute of the second half to record a 2-0 win over Concordia.

The loss drops the Cobbers' record to 4-9-2 in all games and 1-6-2 in the MIAC. St. Olaf ups their record to 8-5-1 in all games and 6-2-1 in conference play.

The two teams battled through a scoreless first half of play. St. Olaf held a 13-6 advantage in total shots and a 4-2 edge in shots on goal in the first 45 minutes of play.

The game turned in St. Olaf's favor on an unfortunate bounce for the Cobbers. The Oles tried to play the ball through the back of the CC defense, but it was picked off by freshman defender Darby Hanaan. Hanaan's clearing attempt ricocheted off a St. Olaf attacker's shin and went straight to another Ole which allowed her to break free from the top of the penalty area.

The goal at 60:12 gave St. Olaf a 1-0 lead. They doubled the margin at 64:13 on another mini breakaway down the left wing.

Concordia was outshot 26-8 in total shots for the game. The Oles held a 9-2 margin in shots on goal. St. Olaf had a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.

Sophia Robinson and Clara Rooney led CC with two shots each, while junior goalie Bre Nelson made seven saves.
