Six Hours To Redemption

STORM LAKE, Iowa (9/20/15)--- It took a six-hour bus ride for the Cobbers to reverse their fortunes after a tough 2-0 loss at home against Macalester on Saturday.

Concordia traveled 390 miles to Storm Lake, Iowa and came away with a 2-0 win over Buena Vista. The Cobbers used the Scot's formula for success from Saturday as they scored a goal early in the game and then made it stand up en route to the two-goal victory.

The win is the Cobbers' fourth of the season and pushes their overall record back over the .500 mark. CC is now 4-3 in all games. BVU drops to 2-6 on the year.

Senior Morgan Holm scored the game-winning goal just three minutes into the opening period of play. She earned her second goal of the season on assists from Abby Vogelsberg and Ashley Westbee.

Concordia then controlled the midfield for the majority of the first half and came away with a 7-1 advantage in shots for the first 45 minutes.

Emily Wendorff put the game out of reach when she ran on to a ball in the Buena Vista penalty area and pushed it past the BVU goalie. Wendorff's goal at 74:48 was her team-leading fourth of the season. Paige McCullough was credited with the assist on the play.

The Cobbers outshot the Beavers 14-5 in total shots for the game. CC had an 8-5 edge in shots on goal.

Concordia goalie Elizabeth Bitzan made five saves to earn her first shutout of the season.

STAT STUFF: The shutout was Bitzan's 20th of her career. That total is third on the program's career shutout list. Ali Nelson finished her stellar career with 40 and Britt Reiersgord had 36.

SOUND SMART WITH YOUR FRIENDS: Wendorff has scored a single goal in four different games this season. The Cobbers are 3-1 in games when she scores a goal.   

WHAT'S NEXT: Concordia will have a week break before returning to action. The Cobbers will host St. Olaf on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 3:30 p.m.
