Cobbers Honor Seniors Before Dual With MSU Moorhead

MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/26/25)---It was the annual Senior Celebration Say for the Cobbers as they honored the six senior student-athletes before their dual meet with MSU Moorhead.

Concordia was able to take four individual match wins against the Dragons, but it wasn't enough as they fell 28-13. It is only the second time in the last 14 dual meets between the two schools that MSU Moorhead has been able to outduel the Cobbers.

Concordia senior All-American Ty Bisek, who is ranked ninth in the most recent NWCA DIII National Rankings, got the Cobbers on the board when he scored a 10-7 decision at 141. The win got CC within eight points after Concordia opened the team match with a forfeit at 125 and then lost by a technical fall at 133.

The victory was Bisek's team-leading 17th of the season. He is now 17-1 on the year and is ranked No.1 at 141 in the Upper Midwest region.

MSU Moorhead (7-2) claimed a major decision win at 149 before Aidan Ruddy brought the crowd of over 200 to their feet with a last-second takedown win at 157. Ruddy battled his opponent until the final 15 seconds of the third period and then got the takedown to earn an 8-5 win.

Ruddy is now 9-8 on the season.

The Cobbers' final two wins of the match came at 197 and 285. Senior Connor Chloupek dominated his match at 197 and came away with a decisive 11-0 major win. He had a takedown and a 3-point near fall in the first period and finished off the bout with a takedown and riding time in the final period.

The win was also Choupek's ninth of the year and he ups his record to 9-5 with three major decision wins.

Mason Swanson posted a 2-0 win at 285. He claimed the only point during the match when he was able to escape at the start of the second period. He earned the extra point for riding time by staying on top of his opponent for the entire third period.

Swanson, who was a standout defensive lineman for the Cobber football team, is 4-2 on the season.

Concordia will travel to Illinois to participate in the highly competitive Pete Wilson Invite hosted by Wheaton College on Jan. 31-Feb. 1.
