Cobbers Improve In Final Round Before MIAC Meet

STILLWATER, Minn. (9/26/21)---Concordia improved by 26 shots from their Day 1 score at the St. Catherine Invitational and finished in 14th place in the final team standings.

The Cobbers opened the final tune-up before the MIAC Championship Meet by posting a team score of 392. CC then rallied on Sunday to shoot a 366 and improve by 26 shots from Day 1 to Day 2.

Junior Abbey Frauenholtz opened the tournament with a 95 and came back to shoot 92 on Sunday. Her 2-day total of 187 led Concordia. She finished the tournament in 62nd place.

Freshman Joss Leach finished in the Top 2 of the team for the second straight tournament. She was one of four CC players to improve from Saturday to Sunday. She opened with a 98 on Day 1 and then cut seven shots off that score and posted a 91 on Day 2.

Sophomore Lillie Kirchner had the biggest drop of any golfer on Sunday. She came home with a 105 on Saturday, but then found her swing and got back to the 80's with an 86 on Day 2. She was the only CC player to shoot in the 80's at the tournament. The 86 marks the third straight tournament she has carded an 86 and Kirchner has now posted a score in the 80's in four of the six rounds she had played this season.

Ava Hanson led Concordia on Saturday with a 94. She came back on Sunday and shot a 97 for a 2-day total of 191 which tied Kirchner's total.

Ellie Johnson was the fifth member of the Cobber scoring team. She finished the tournament with a total of 208 (108-100).
