A Love Affair With Pomme De Terre

MORRIS, Minn. (9/19/13)—Concordia loves Morris, Minn. and playing at Pomme De Terre GC. For the fourth straight time playing in the Cougar Invite, the Cobbers came away with the team championship. Concordia had the top four individual golfers as they won the one-day tournament by 23 strokes.
 
Concordia fired a team score of 347 which bettered the Cobber second team, who finished in second place, by 23 shots. CC junior Katie Nelson was the medalist at the meet as she fired an 84. It is her first top 5 finish of the season and marks the second time in the team's four meets she has posted the low score for Concordia.

A pair of Nelson's teammates on the Concordia first team finished second and third to give the Cobbers a 1-2-3 finish. Kristi Opatz recorded an 85 to earn he runner-up finish and Amy Mireault was third at 86. Opatz leads CC in scoring average for the season. She is now averaging 82.8 per 18 holes over her first five rounds of the year. Nelson is close behind at 83.2

The fourth-place finish at the Cougar Invite belonged to Concordia freshman Allison Burns. Burns carded an 88 for the day. That is her low round for the year.

The Cobbers also had four other golfers finish in the top 10. Hayley Johnson placed sixth at the meet with a 92 and Kara Meslow, Kristen Solbrack and Tiffany Swanson all shot 93 and finished in a tie for seventh place.

Concordia will travel to Sartell to compete in the Blazer Fall Invite at Blackberry Ridge GC on Saturday, Sept. 21 and Sunday, Sept. 22.
