Beseman Named To D3hoops National Team Of The Week
MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/07/23)---Concordia senior guard Emily Beseman (Swanville, Minn.) was named to the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week for her milestone, 3-game performance last week.
Beseman becomes the second Concordia player to receive the national honor this year. Sophomore Makayla Anderson was named to the National Team of the Week on Jan. 3.
Beseman averaged 18.3 points, 5.67 rebounds, 5.67 assists, 2.3 steals and shot 52.9% from outside the arc in the Cobbers' wins over St. Benedict, Macalester and St. Catherine. Beseman's performance helped 10th straight game which is the longest win streak by a CC team since 2005.
Beseman also helped Concordia clinch a playoff spot during the week. It marks the first time that CC has earned a spot in the playoffs since 2016. The Cobbers are 18-3 in all games this year, and 15-3 in conference play.
The highlight of the week for Beseman is when she dropped 26 points on St. Catherine on Saturday which helped her become the 29th player in Concordia history to reach the 1,000-point milestone. She became the first CC player to achieve the feat since 2017.
Beseman's 26-point performance against the Wildcats was part of a dramatic 4th-quarter comeback that saw Concordia erase a 14-point deficit in the final 9-minutes of play.
Beseman leads the team in scoring, assists and steals and is second in rebounds. Beseman is averaging 14.8 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 3.43 assists and 2.43 steals in the team's 21 games this year.
Beseman is currently the only player in the MIAC to be in the Top 16 in scoring, rebounding and assists.
Beseman leads the MIAC in free throw percentage. She is connecting on 87.9% of her foul shots which is tied for 14th in all of Division III.
