Isahak Adds All-Region Award Winner To His Resume

COLFAX, Wis.  (11/13/21)---Munir Isahak put his name in another section of the Cobber history books on Saturday at the NCAA North Region Meet. Isahak finished 14th in the individual results and became the first Concordia athlete to earn All-Region honors since 2011.

Isahak's Top 15 finish also helped Concordia place 10th in the overall team standings. It is the highest finish for the Cobbers at an NCAA Regional Meet since 2002 when CC also finished in 10th place.

Isahak finished the 8K course at the Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax, Wis. in a time 24.57.53. He clocked a 4:54.00 for the first kilometer, and was at 15:33.0 for the 5K before finishing in just under 25 minutes.

Leo Smith was Concordia's No.2 runner at the meet. He clocked a 25:49.59 and finished a mere .57 of a second outside the Top 50. Smith crossed the line in 52nd place among the 219 entrants.

Like the MIAC Championship Meet, Tanner Olson was among the Cobber Top 3 finishers. He ran a 26:01.31 and was the No.70 finisher in the race.

Freshman Joe Lee and senior track All-American Jesse Middendorf were the team's No.4 and No.5 finishers, and both runners placed in the Top 100. Lee, racing in his first NCAA Region Meet, was 82nd in a time of 26:19.75 and Middendorf clocked a 26:35.57 which was good for the No.96 spot among the 219 runners.

UP NEXT: Isahak will now have to wait to see if he earns one of the seven at-large bids to the NCAA National Meet from the Regional. The Top 7 finishers not on one of the teams selected to compete at nationals receive an invitation to race at the NCAA National Championship Meet on Saturday, Nov. 20 in Louisville, Ky. Tom Sederquist was the last Cobber to compete at the NCAA Meet when he placed 39th in the 2011 competition.
