Team Makes Eye-Opening Statement In Second Meet

MOORHEAD, Minn. (9/10/21)---Last week at the season opener at UND it was an individual who had an eye-opening performance. On Friday it was the entire Cobber team who posted the "take notice" result.

Concordia used the strength of four Top 20 finishes to place second at the MSU Moorhead Twilight Meet. The Cobbers finished with 69 team place points which was 34 points better than third-place Northern State and over 60 points clear of the host Dragons. It marks the first time in over 15 years that Concordia has bettered MSU Moorhead in a cross country meet.

Senior Munir Isahak stayed with the lead pack over the course of the 6K race and placed fourth in the final individual standings. It was his second straight Top 5 finish of the year. Munir crossed the line in 18:40.7 which is almost 50-seconds faster than his time at the same meet in 2019.

Freshman Joe Lee climbed up the team leaderboard in his second collegiate meet. He was the team's No.3 runner in the opener last weekend, and on Friday he finished in the No.2 spot. Lee ran a 19:27.4 to post his second straight Top 20 finish as he was the 11th runner to cross the line at Bluestem.

Sophomore Tanner Olson was close behind Lee. He gave CC a trio of Top 15 marks. Olson clocked a 19:38.5 which put him in the No.13 spot in the final individual standings.
