MIAC Weekly Honor x 3

MOORHEAD, Minn. (9/03/19)---Concordia senior Eric Wicklund used a stellar first-meet performance to earn MIAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors.

Wicklund finished 24th at the season-opening NDSU Bison Open which was comprised exclusively of NCAA Division I student/athletes from the Summit League.

The award marks the third straight season that Wicklund has earned MIAC Athlete of the Week honors. He received the award last year after winning the Jamestown Invitational. He joins Tom Sederquist as the only runners in program history to win the weekly award on more than two occasions.

Wicklund crossed the line in a time of 19:33 over the up-and-down 6K course that will be used for the Summit League championship meet this season.

He was the No.1 Cobber finisher at the meet and beat over 40 Division I athletes from North Dakota State, North Dakota, South Dakota State and South Dakota.

Wicklund's time of 19:33 would have put him as the No.2 finisher for North Dakota and the No.4 runner for the University of South Dakota.

Wicklund will look to continue his early-season success when he competes in the MSU Moorhead Twilight Meet on Friday, Sept. 6 at 8:10 p.m. at the Bluestem Theater in Moorhead.
