Young Resigns As Head Coach

MOORHEAD, Minn. (6/13/24)---Nate Young announced his resignation as Concordia men's tennis coach which will be effective June 24.

Young just completed his third season with the Cobbers. In 2024, he guided the team to the most MIAC victories since the 2019 season and the most overall wins since 2020.

"Cobber Athletics is grateful for Nate's time as the men's tennis head coach," Athletic Director Rachel Bergeson commented. "He was instrumental in building our tennis program and in upgrading our outdoor tennis courts. We wish him well."

In addition to helping progress the team's development, Young recruited and developed individual player development. Sophomores Kai Pierce and Logan Sandberg received MIAC All-Conference honors in singles play in 2023 and Pierce earned a back-to-back All-Conference award this spring.

"I absolutely loved my time at Concordia," Young said. "I am thankful for all the amazing athletes I have gotten to work with over the years and am extremely proud of the culture we have created within our team. What I will miss most is the bond I have with the team and watching them grow as both tennis players and people. I would like to thank my athletes, their parents, and Oliver Summers for supporting me and getting me involved in coaching. I will miss coaching but will continue to love and support the Cobber tennis players."

Bergeson noted that a search for a new men's tennis coach will begin immediately.
