Henkemeyer-Howe Earns MIAC Player Of The Week Honors

MOORHEAD, Minn. (01/31/22)---Cobber freshman Isaac Henkemeyer-Howe (Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead HS) was named the MIAC Men's Hockey Player of the Week after helping Concordia post its second consecutive conference sweep.

Henkemeyer-Howe becomes the first Cobber player to earn the MIAC weekly honor this year, and first since teammate Tyler Bossert (Fargo, N.D./ Fargo Shanley HS) received the award on Dec. 3, 2018.

Henkemeyer-Howe had a team-high four points in the two victories over St. Scholastica on the weekend. He had a goal and two assists in Concordia's 4-1 win on Friday, and then added the game-winning goal on Saturday in the Cobbers' 4-2 victory.

Henkemeyer-Howe's goal on Saturday came on the power play and helped extend Concordia's recent success during man-advantage situations. CC has now scored at least one power play goal in four straight games, and is 6-for-16 (37.5%) on the PP during that stretch.

Like the Cobbers, and their recent power play success, Henkemeyer-Howe has upped his scoring touch in the last four games. He has scored in three of the four games and has a total of five points in that string.

Henkemeyer-Howe's 4-point weekend brings his season total to 12 points on the year. He has six goals and six assists. His six goals are tied for third most on the team. Henkemeyer-Howe also has 43 shots for the year which is also third best for CC.

Henkemeyer-Howe will look to continue his recent scoring hot streak when Concordia plays St. John's in a home-and-home series. The Cobbers will play in St. Cloud on Thursday, Feb. 3 and then return home to host the Johnnies on Friday, Feb. 4.
