Cobbers Compete At Bobby Krig Invite

LE SUEUR, Minn. (4/21/24)---Concordia improved by eight shots over their first-round team total and finished in a tie for seventh place in the final standings in the 2-day Bobby Krig Invite hosted by Gustavus.

The Cobbers opened the tournament on Saturday by carding a 310 at the New Prague GC and finished with a 302 at the Le Sueur CC on Sunday. CC was two shots out of a Top 5 finish.

Concordia had a pair of players finish in the Top 20 of the individual standings. Sophomore Gabe Benson finished in a tie for 10th place with a 2-day total of 147. He fired a 78 in the first round and bettered that score by nine shots with a 69 on Day 2. The 69 marks the fourth time this season he has shot a score in the 60s.

Senior Ryan Jenson was the team's No.2 finisher at Gustavus. He was the most consistent member of the CC scoring team. He opened with a 76 and came home with a 75 to finish in a tie for 20th place.

Justin Lamp, Jack Hanson and Sam Henke were the other members of CC's team at the meet. Lamp posted a 158 (80-78), Hanson started with a 76 but then carded an 85 on Sunday to post a score of 161. Henke was in the 80s in both rounds. He shot an 87 on Saturday and an 80 on Sunday for a final total of 167.

Colton Westra and Jay Wanzek played as individuals for CC. Westra went 86-85 for a total of 171 and Wanzek finished with a 181 (87-94).

UP NEXT: Concordia will finish off the spring season when they play in the St. John's Spring Invite on Apr. 27-28.
