Montplaisir Repeats As All-Conference
MOORHEAD, Minn. (5/08/17)---Concordia senior Cade Montplaisir was officially named to the MIAC All-Conference Team as a part of the MIAC men's golf spring awards release.
Cobber freshman Blake Kahlbaugh was the team's selection for the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team.
The league releases the All-Conference list after the spring portion of the season even though the conference championship meet takes place in the fall.
Montplaisir earns MIAC All-Conference honors by virtue of his Top 10 finish at the conference tournament on Oct. 8-10.
It is the second straight season that Montplaisir has walked away with all-conference honors. He finished tied for third at the 2015 MIAC Championship Meet and then duplicated that feat in the fall when he finished in a tie for third at the conference meet.
Montplaisir finished with a final score of 222 (71-76-75) at the MIAC Meet at Bunker Hills in October.
Montplaisir led after the first day after he shot a 1-under-par 71. He then put up a 76 in the second round to fall into a tie for third place. Montplaisir then came out and finished the three-day meet with a 75 to stay tied for third. Montplaisir's final total of 222 was five shots out of second and seven behind the individual medalist.
Montplaisir finished the 2016-17 season by posting six straight Top 20 finishes. He had 23 Top 20 finishes in his career.
Montplaisir led the Cobbers in scoring average in 2016-17. He played in eight events, had 19 rounds and carded a 75.4 average. He also led Concordia in average in 2015-16 and was second in his sophomore season in 2014-15.
Montplaisir finishes his career with a 75.8 average during his four seasons at Concordia. That mark is in the Top 5 of golfers for the Cobbers in the past 10 seasons.
