Siverson Leads Cobbers To Cougar Invite Title

MORRIS, Minn. (9/20/12)—Senior Jordie Siverson fired a 75, claimed medalist honors and helped Concordia win the team title at the UM-Morris Cougar Invite on Thursday at the Pomme De Terre Golf Course.

Siverson's 75 was his low round of the year and tied for the low score at the Cougar Invite. Siverson won medalist honors on a scorecard playoff. The Cobbers' team total of 309 was 11 shots better than any other team in the field. It also marks the second straight round they have fired a team score under 310.

Besides the stellar play of Siverson, Concordia had three other players finish tied for fourth. Siverson was consistent on both nines as he shot a 38 on the front and then one better on the back to finish at 75. Coy Papachek, Landon Poss and Jordan Larson all tied for fourth place with identical 78's. Larson had the biggest turnaround from front to back as he shot a 42 on the front but then found his game on the back and shot an even par 36. The 36 tied for the low 9 score of any golfer in the field.

Andrew Whitchurch rounded out the top team for CC at the invite. He shot an 81 and finished in 17th place. The Cobbers had two teams at the tournament. Max Smith and Tanner Knutson led the Concordia "Gold" team with identical 40-42's for rounds of 82.

Concordia will step back up in competition when they travel to Eau Claire Wis. To compete in the UW-Eau Claire Frank Wrigglesworth Invite on Sunday, Sept. 23 and Monday, Sept. 24 at the  Wild Ridge and New Richmond golf courses.
