Deitz Earns All-MIAC Honors, Cobbers Finish 6th

COON RAPIS, Minn. (10/03/11)—Concordia senior Pat Deitz earned All-Conference honors and helped the Cobbers finish sixth  at the 2011 MIAC Men's Golf Championship Meet. Deitz was in the 70's all three rounds and had a three-day total of 228 (78-74-76) to finish in a tie for 10th place.

Concordia matched their opening round team score of 308 on Monday. The Cobbers finished with a final team total of 928 (308-312-308). That total is seven strokes off their pace from last year when they fired a 921 and finished in fourth place.

For Deitz it is the second time that he has earned All-Conference honors in his Concordia golf career. He also finished in a tie for eighth place in 2009 – his sophomore season when he finished with a total of 226. The top 10 and ties are named to the MIAC All-Conference Team.      

The Cobbers had a pair of freshmen as their No.2 and No.3 golfers at the meet. Coy Papachek, who entered the final round in a tie for eighth place shot an 82 on Monday and finished in a tie for 25th place at 233 (74-77-82). Tyler Koivisto was consistent over his three rounds in his first conference championship and was tied for 27th at 234 (77-79-78). Defending MIAC champion Andrew Whitchurch had a tough tournament, finishing as the team's No.4 golfer with a final score of 236 (79-82-75).
