Cobbers Win UM-Morris Invite

MORRIS, Minn. (9/22/11)—Concordia participated in a rare mid-week tournament and came away with a victory at the UM-Morris Invite. The Cobbers shot a final team score of 300 and were led by senior Pat Deitz who fired an even-par 72 and finished second.

Concordia took the top two spots at the tournament the Cobber's second team shot a 304 and finished four shots behind of the top CC squad and three shots in front of third-place Valley City State.

Joining Deitz in the top 5 at the Invite were juniors Andrew Whitchurch and Jordie Siverson. Whitchurch finished with a 73 for the first team and Siverson shot a 74 for the second team. For Both players it was their low round of the year.     

All totaled, the Cobbers had eight of the top 11 golfers at the tournament. Robert Baier was tied for sixth with a 76, Tyler Champ, Barret Freeland and Tyler Kovisto all fired a 77 and finished in a tie for eighth place and Coy Papachek was in 11th place with a 78.

Concordia will compete at the Macalester Invite this weekend. The Cobbers will play at the Chaska Town Course on Saturday, Sept. 24 and Sunday, Sept. 25.
