A Second Straight Team Title

ST. PAUL, Minn. (9/25/11)—Concordia won the Macalester Invite in St. Paul on Sunday after shooting a two-round total of 613 (302-311). Cobber freshman Tyler Koivisto tied for medalist honors with a 148 (73-75).

Concordia, who placed four golfers in the top 10 at the invite, won the tournament held at the Chaska Town Course and Dahlgren GC by eight shots over St. John's second team who finished with a 621 (319-302). The Gustavus second team finished in third place with a final total of 624 (321-303).

Koivisto was the top CC player by a full six strokes. He shot a season-best 73 in the opening round at the Chaska Town Course. He followed that up with a 75 to come away with his best two-round total of the season. Koivisto is now second on the team with a 76.3 scoring average.

Senior Pat Deitz fired identical rounds of 77 and finished in sixth place. Jordie Siverson tied for seventh place with a 155 (75-80) and defending MIAC champion Andrew Whitchurch was tied for ninth with a 156 (77-79).

Concordia will now compete in the MIAC Championship Meet on Oct. 1-3 at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids, Minn.
