Belka Posts Career-High Point Total At Gustavus

ST. PETER, Minn. (12/7/24)---Junior guard Peyton Belka went 5-for-6 from 3-point range and posted a career-high 25 points but it wasn't enough as the Cobbers lost 79-72 at Gustavus.
 
The game was close throughout the 40 minutes of play with Concordia and the Gusties matching point streaks in the first and second halves. 
 
The Cobbers led 30-27 with under 5 minutes to play in the first half and the teams would trade baskets until Gustavus was able to take a 38-36 lead at the break. 
 
Gustavus (5-2, 2-0 MIAC) made two key runs in the second half. They posted a 7-0 run at the start of the period and then went on a 7-2 streak after CC cut the lead midway through the second half.
 
Concordia (3-5, 0-2 MIAC) finished the day by shooting a season-high 47.6% (10-for-21) from outside the arc. The 10 made shots from distance are also a season best. The Cobbers also connected on 45.3% (24-for-53) from the floor and 82.4% (14-for-17) from the free throw line. 
 
The Gusties shot 50.0% (30-for-60) from the field but only 28.6% (6-for-21) from outside the arc.
 
Besides Belka's career-high point total, sophomore guard Kaden Pieper had his best scoring game of the season. He was 2-for-6 from 3-point range and finished with 15 points. 
 
Jackson Loge recorded his fifth double-double of the year. He posted 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. 
 
Concordia will finish off their MIAC play before the holiday break when they play at Augsburg on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 1 p.m.
