Fraase Named MIAC Player Of The Week

MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/08/16)—Concordia senior guard Tom Fraase capped a very eventful 48 hours by being named the MIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

Fraase is the second straight Cobber player to earn conference Player of the Week honors as senior teammate Jordan Bolger earned the award last week.

It is the second time in his career that Fraase has earned MIAC Player of the Week honors. He also captured the award for the first week of February in his sophomore season in 2014.

Fraase was a key component in Concordia's incredible double-overtime comeback win against Gustavus on Saturday. He scored a career-high 35 points and san a buzzer beater at the end of the first overtime to send the game into a second extra period.

Fraase then scored eight of the team's first 10 points to help Concordia post an improbable 114-107 win over the Gusties. The Cobbers trailed Gustavus by 15 points at one time in the second half and were also down by three points in the first overtime.

Fraase's 35 points was a part of a two-game performance where he averaged 23 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game while shooting 56 percent from the floor, 54.5 percent from three and 92.3 percent from the line.

His outstanding play helped Concordia post two wins in conference play and the Cobbers are now within a game of clinching an MIAC playoff spot.

Fraase started his week by scoring 11 points, grabbing two rebounds and collecting five assists in the team's win at Carleton on Wednesday. It marked the first win for CC at Carleton since 2007.

In addition to his 35 points on Saturday, he also filled the stat sheet by shooting 9-for-14 from the floor, 5-for-8 on threes and 12-for-13 from the line and added seven boards, three assists and four steals.

The Cobbers will be looking to clinch their second straight MIAC playoff berth when they host St. Mary's on Monday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. Concordia will then play road games at Hamline on Wednesday and at St. John's on Saturday.
