A Good, Good Day For The Cobbers At MIAC Meet

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (3/01/25)---It was a good, good day for Cobber track & field. A school-record started Day 2 of the MIAC Championship Meet and the rest of the Cobbers followed by going low and soaring high as Concordia finished third in the final team standings.

Concordia came away with 103 team points in posting its highest finish at a conference indoor meet since 2016.

The Cobbers had seven individuals post Top 8 scoring marks and had their two relay squads combine for 18 points as they scored 46 team points on Saturday.

The standout sprint quartet of Emily Rengo, Andie Sandman, Piper Osborne and Kyla Nygaard made the biggest splash of the day when they opened Saturday by winning the 4x200-meter relay with a school record time of 1:43.56. That group has now lowered the school record in the event by 4.1 seconds in the last two years.

The four 4x200 athletes would also go on to score team points in individual events throughout the day.

Sandman and Rengo came through with a 5-6 finish in the 200 meters. Sandman clocked a 25.97 and Rengo was .10 of a second behind and finished in sixth place at 26.07. The pair gave Concordia seven valuable team points.

Nygaard had the highest individual finish for the Cobbers on the day. She crossed the line in a time of 1:35.73 and placed second in the 600 meters.

Teammate Meg Shercliffe also scored points in the event by finishing in seventh place with a mark of 1:40.79.

Osborne, the final member of the record-setting relay crew, had the best finish in a field event for Concordia on Saturday. She posted a distance of 35-03.00 on her first attempt in the triple jump and placed fourth.

Miranda Travis and Jenna Kalevik earned the other Top 8 finishes in field events for CC. Travis came up with a toss of 38-07.00 in the shot put and was seventh in the final standings.

Kalevik, who should be in the running for Field Athlete of the Meet, was fifth in the high jump after clearing the bar at 4-11.05. Kalevik placed in the Top 5 in four different events over the course of the 3-day meet. Besides her 5th-place showing in the high jump, Kalevik won the 60-meter hurdles was second in the long jump and third in Thursday's pentathlon.

Concordia closed out the 2025 conference indoor meet with a second-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay. Rengo, Nygaard and Shercliffe were joined by Emma Warner and posted a season-best time of 3:59.50 which was the second fastest in school history – and fastest since 1988.
