Kalevik Continues Cobbers' Top 3 MIAC Pentathlon Streak

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (2/27/25)--- Senior Jenna Kalevik continued Concordia's streak of Top 3 finishers in the MIAC pentathlon as she posted a career-best point total of 3,224 points and finished in third place in the conference indoor multi-event competition.

Kalevik's third-place finish earns her MIAC All-Conference honors in the event and makes it five straight conference meets that the Cobbers have had an athlete finish in the Top 3 at the MIAC pentathlon.

Kalevik's final total of 3,224 points bested her previous personal best by 257 points, which she set earlier in February at the NDSU Open. Her PR total also jumps her into the Top 4 on the school's all-time list. She is now No.4 among the all-time leaders in the pentathlon.

Kalevik had an all-around performance in the 5-event pentathlon. She posted career-best marks in the shot put and 800 meters and had near misses in the 60-meter hurdles and long jump.

Kalevik's top scoring event was the opener in the 60-meter hurdles, where she clocked a 9.06 and earned 897 points. Her time was the fastest of the 16 competitors in the event.

Kalevik also scored over 600 points in the high jump when she cleared the bar at 5-01.00 which was good for second place in the event and scored 678 points.

Kalevik came away with a throw of 35-04.00 in the shot put. That mark was almost a full foot farther than her previous personal best and was the fourth farthest in the event on the day.

Her other career-best mark came in the final event of the competition. She clocked a 2:46.97, which beat her old PR of 2:52.19 by almost 6 full seconds.

The Cobbers had one other athlete compete in the pentathlon. First-year athlete Taylor Christenson finished in 11th place with a total of 2,380 points. To put her total into perspective. Kalevik scored 200 points less than Christenson in her first indoor multi-event.

Christenson posted personal-best marks in the 60-meter hurdles, high jump, long jump and 800 meters on her way to the top pentathlon score of her career.

Her top scoring event came in the 800 meters – the last event of the day. Christenson crossed the line in 2:39.86, which earned her 574 points and was a PR by 5.38 seconds.

Kalevik and Christenson will join the rest of their teammates for the full MIAC Conference Meet on Feb. 28-Mar. 1 at St. John's.
