Record-Setting Streak Stays Intact

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (2/21/25)---Make it 5-for-5. In all five of the meets the Cobbers have competed in 2025, there has been at least one school record. 
 
The Cobbers made another trip up I-29 to UND to compete in the last meet before the MIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships and finished third at the UND Tune-Up meet.
 
The meet, was once again, highlighted by yet another record performance by the sprint hurdle queen – Jenna Kalevik
 
Kalevik broke her own 60-meter hurdle record for the third time in the month of February. Kalevik became the first Cobber in history to go under 9.0 seconds in the 60h. She ran a time of 8.98 in the prelims on her way to the record. Kalevik came back and took seventh overall in the finals. Kalevik ranks first in the MIAC by over a quarter of a second in the event. That time also puts her in the top 30 in Division III this year.
 
Kyla Nygaard had another outstanding performance, this time in the 400. Nygaard took first place by just under 3.0 seconds with a personal best time of 57.08 (57.84c) That time ranks fourth in the MIAC this year and second on the all-time Cobber list. 
 
Joining Nygaard in a Top 2 performance in the 400 was Emma Warner with a time of 59.98 (1:00.78) That time ranks 14th in the MIAC this year and 11th overall on the Concordia all-time list. 
 
Another event winner was Meg Shercliffe in the 600. She ran a season's best time of 1:42.23 (1:43.48c) that time ranks 17th in the MIAC this year. 
 
Emily Rengo and Andie Sandman ran the fifth and sixth fastest time in the MIAC this year in the 200 meters. Rengo took fourth with a season's best time of 25.50 (25.90c) and Sandman ran a personal best time of 25.83 (26.23c) 
 
Sandman had a seventh-place performance in the 60-meter dash as well. She ran a time of 7.96 and is currently ranked sixth in the MIAC this year. 
 
The Cobbers had a pair of milers came away with Top 10 performances. Senior Drew Frolek ran a personal best time of 5:16.54 (5:19.68c) and first-year athlete Kelyn Henry-Perlich ran a personal best time of 5:18.45 (5:21.61c). Those times rank 12th and 17th in the MIAC this year. 
 
Senior Airial Johnson rounded out the track events with a personal best time in the 3000. Johnson took fourth with a time of 11:13.05 (11:18.84c)
 
Brynley Coleman helped set the tone in the field events for the Cobbers. Coleman took seventh in the pole vault with a personal best vault of 10-08.75. That height ranks fifth in the MIAC this year and is third on the all-time Cobber list. 
 
Kalevik added to her track record with a season-best jump in the long jump. Kalevik's leap of 16-07.25 took ninth in the meet and now ranks eighth in the MIAC this year. First-year Cobber Blanche Dennis took sixth in the triple jump with a jump 31-10.75. That ranks 12th in the MIAC this year. 
 
The Cobbers had a pair of throwers post Top 10 throws in the MIAC this year. Miranda Travis and Chloe Mueffelmann both threw for personal bests. Travis took ninth with a throw of 39-09.25 and Mueffelmann took 12th with a toss of 37-04.00. Those throws rank fifth and ninth in the MIAC this year. 
 
Rounding out the meet for the Cobbers was the 4x400 relay. The team of Rengo, Shercliffe, Warner and Nygaard ran the teams fastest time this year and took first, running 4:00.85 (4:04.06c) That time currently ranks second in the MIAC.
 
The Cobbers will compete in the MIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships next week at St. John's University. The pentathlon starts on Thursday, Feb. 27 with track and field events starting on Friday, Feb. 28 at 4:00 p.m.
