Three PRs Lead To Top 15 Finish For Selle At NCAA Heptathlon

GENEVA, Ohio (5/27/22)---Sophomore Peyton Selle capped her very first NCAA National Meet experience by posting the fifth highest heptathlon score in school history.

Selle finished the seven events with a total of 4,372 points which was good for 15th place in the NCAA heptathlon. Selle finished Day 1 of the event in 18th place but then climbed three spots on Day 2 to place 15th among the 22 competitors.

Selle's total of 4,372 points is a personal record, and No.5 on the Cobbers' all-time list.

Selle posted three event PRs on her way to the Top 15 national finish. She started the heptathlon by clocking a 15.42 in the 110-meter hurdles which was a career best by .09 of a second. She also posted a PR in the only other running event on Day 1. Selle crossed the line with a mark of 26.88 in the 200 meters which bettered her previous PR by .39  of a second.

Selle's third career best mark came in the opening event on Day 2. She came through with a distance of 16-08.75 on her third, and final, attempt of the event. Her final mark broke her previous career best by 2.75 inches.

Selle's top two scoring events came in the running events on Day 1. She scored 787 points in the 110-meter hurdles and added 722 points in the 200 meters.

The high jump and 800 meters provided Sell with the other two 600-point plus events. She cleared 5-01 in the high jump to score 678 points and came away with 632 points when she crossed the line in the 800 meters in a time of 2:34.98.
