Hovland Competes At NCAA Indoor Meet

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (03/12/22)---Senior Cayle Hovland had her chance to compete in the shot put on Day 2 of the NCAA Division III National Indoor Championship Meet.

Hovland put up a distance of 39-11.25 on her second attempt, which was her best mark of the prelims, and failed to qualify for the finals in the event. The distance to qualify for finals was 44-05.50.

Hovland's distance on her second throw earned her 18th place in the national shot put. She finished in 11th place in the shot put last spring at the NCAA Outdoor Championship Meet.

Hovland qualified for the national meet by putting up a distance of 44-01.25 at the MIAC Indoor Meet. That mark earned her a runner-up finish at the conference meet – and helped her to the No.18 seed in the country.

Hovland fouled on her first attempt at the NCAA Indoor National Meet. She then recorded the mark of 39-11.25 on the second attempt, before finishing with a distance of 39-10.75 on her final attempt.
