A Scoreless Point In The MIAC Standings

MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/14/23)---Concordia and Gustavus battled to a 0-0 tie in a match-up between two teams trying to jump into the MIAC playoff picture.

The Cobbers held the majority of possession and had a clear advantage on the stat sheet, but couldn't find the back of the net and had to settle for their second tie of the season.

The Cobbers are now 5-5-2 in all games and 3-3-1 in conference games. The one point in the league standings gives CC 10 points in their seven MIAC games, which is tied for seventh place – only two points out of the sixth, and final, spot for the conference playoffs.

The Gusties remain in a tie with Concordia in the league standings. They are 3-4-1 in the conference and 7-6-1 in all games.

The "Tupperware" defense was once again the star of the show for CC. They recorded their fifth overall shutout of the year and third in conference play. Concordia has only allowed nine total goals this year. They have only conceded six in MIAC play, tied for third-fewest in the league.

Concordia ramped up its offense in the second half. After having three total shots in the first half, CC posted 12 in the final 45 minutes of play. They finished the game by outshooting Gustavus 15-6 in total shots and 12-3 in shots on goal. The Cobbers also held a 4-2 edge in corner kicks in the game.

Senior Sophia Robinson led all players with four total shots. She had three on frame, as did junior Chloe Sollom. Robinson leads the team with 31 total shots and 18 on goal. Emma Sheflo had three total shots and two on target. She is second on the squad with 29 total shots.

Junior goalie Kaitlin Petrich finished the game with three saves to record her first shutout of the season.
