Bisek's Bonus-Point Bonanza Leads Top Top 20 Team Finish
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (3/15/25)---Senior Ty Bisek completed his Cobber career by going on a bonus-point bonanza on Day 2 at the NCAA Championship Meet, which culminated in a fourth-place finish in the 141-lb weight class.
Bisek went 2-1 with two pins over nationally-ranked wrestlers on Saturday on his way to becoming the second straight Concordia wrestler to post a Top 5 finish at the NCAA Meet. Bisek capped his second trip to nationals with a 5-2 record.
Not only did Bisek finish strong to post a Top 5 individual finish, but he also recorded a pair of big bonus point wins, which helped Concordia finish in a tie for 19th place in the final team standings. It's the ninth time the Cobbers have finished in the Top 20 at the NCAA Championship Meet and the first since the 2014 season.
Bisek opened his bonus point bonanza on the second day of competition by scoring a pin in the first period against No.9-ranked Luke Hoerle of Stevens. Hoerle was the wrestler that Bisek was supposed to face in the finals of the Augsburg Invite but had to forfeit because of a concussion he suffered in the semifinal round.
Bisek upped his opening-round pin by coming away with a pin against the No.3-ranked wrestler in the consolation semifinals. He was able to get Pierre Baldwin of Central on the mat and then turned him at the start of the third period to record the pin at 5:36.
Bisek ran out of gas in the third-place match and wound up losing 14-6 to Thomas Monn of McDaniel, who was ranked 12th in the final NWCA regular-season rankings.
Bisek finished his senior season with a 29-3 record. He was 6-0 in tech fall decisions and 12-0 in matches decided by a pin.
Bisek closed out his career with a 116-18-0 overall record. His 116 wins are the fourth most in Cobber wrestling history.
