8 Straight = 10 Straight

MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/04/25)---Ty Bisek started the streak of eight straight wins and Mason Swanson finished it. In between, the Cobbers produced six straight victories – three by pin – and steamrolled their way to a 38-9 win over St. John's.  
 
The win is the 10th straight over the Johnnies and the Cobbers have now won 15 of the past 17 dual meets between the schools. 
 
Concordia fell behind 9-0 after two matches with St. John's claiming a forfeit win at 125 and then a 5-2 decision at 133.
 
Bisek, who is ranked ninth in Division III at 141 in the most recent NWCA national rankings, started the Cobber freight train by posting a pin at the 1:19 mark of his match at 141. He earned a takedown right out of the gate and got a 4-point near fall before recording his seventh pin of the year. Bisek is now 17-1 overall for the season.
 
First-year wrestler Jack Major made it back-to-back pin wins and gave the Cobbers a 12-6 lead after four matches. Major needed to go to the second period to get his pin at 149 but he was up 10-0 in the bout before getting the pin at 4:26. The win was Major's 16th of the season.
 
Senior Alex McPhee blanked his opponent at 157 with a 10-0 major win. McPhee had a takedown in each of the first and third periods and forced his opponent into a pair of stall-warning points to claim his team-leading 19th win of the year. 
 
Aidan Ruddy completely turned the match in the Cobbers' favor when he ground out a 13-6 decision at 165. Wrestling up a weight class. Ruddy scored a pair of takedowns in the first period, one in the second and one more to earn the win. Ruddy never trailed in the match as he upped his season record to 13-9.
 
If Ruddy completely turned the match for Concordia, Zach Pribyl put it to bed with his pin at 174. Pribyl was down 7-0 in the first period but climbed his way back into the match with a pair of reversals and two near falls before he got both shoulders to the mat at the 6:40 mark. 
 
It was Pribyl's seventh pin on the year and he is now 16-12 for the season.
 
Brody Duke, Connor Chloupek and Swanson turned the match from a 16-point advantage into a 29-point rout by posting a major decision, pin and decision to end the match. 
 
Duke broke out to an early lead in his bout at 184. He scored a pair of takedowns in the first period and then two more in the third to take the 13-3 major decision win.
 
Chloupek's match at 197 had the most points scored in the shortest amount of time. He trailed 6-0 at the start of the opening period, got to within 6-4 before getting the pin at the 86-second mark.
 
Swanson earned his 4-2 win at 285 with a reversal at the start of the third period. He trailed 2-1  heading into the final period but got the reversal and added a point for riding time to come away with the 2-point victory. Swanson is now 5-4 on the year. 
 
Concordia will host the first-ever Cobber Last Shot Invite. The Cobbers will host the multi-team invitational on Saturday, Feb. 8 starting at 11 a.m.
