Lost On The High Seas
FRAZEE, Minn. (12/02/21)----It was a long night for Concordia in their dual meet with the University of Mary at Frazee High School.
The Cobbers dropped all 10 individual matches and lost 41-0 to the Division II Marauders.
The loss slips Concordia's dual-meet record to 1-2 on the season, while Mary wins its first dual of the season. The two teams are now even at 5-5 in the overall series between the schools.
The Cobbers dropped five matches by a decision and had a pair of 1-point losses.
The closest bouts of the night came at 141 and 157 where both Jacob Prunty and Tyler Bents lost by identical 5-4 decisions.
Prunty trailed 3-0 heading into the third period at 141, but then got an escape to start the period to cut the deficit to two points. Prunty then gave up a takedown to push the score to 5-1, but closed out the match with an escape and takedown to narrowly lose by a point.
Bents got the early lead in his match at 157, when he scored a takedown in the first minute of the opening period. He trailed 4-2 heading into the third period, and got a reversal to square the match a 2-2, before No.10-ranked Braydon Huber of Mary scored an escape to capture the win.
The other match that was decided by less than five points came at 174. Cobber senior Kaden Spindler stayed on top of his opponent for most of the second and third periods, but a 1st-period takedown and a second-period reversal proved to be the difference in a 4-1 decision.
Freshman Ty Bisek had his 7-match win streak come to an end. He was unable to get on the inside of his opponent to get a takedown and lost 10-4.
UP NEXT: Concordia will send a small group of wrestlers to the MSU Moorhead Drago Open on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 10 a.m.
