Fisher's Career Game Leads To 1,000 Points!

ST. PAUL, Minn. (1/05/14)—Alley Fisher had a career game in reaching a career milestone in helping Concordia pull away for a 73-56 win at Macalester.

Fisher scored a career-high 29 points and became the 27th player in Concordia women's basketball history to reach 1,000 career points. Fisher entered the game needing 28 points to reach the milestone and scored 17 points in the second half alone to reach the mark. Fisher sank a free throw with 3:22 left in the final period to reach 1,000 career points. She went on to make the second free throw to finish the game with 29 total points and 1,001 for her career.

Fisher finished the game by going 5-for-6 from 3-point range, 8-for-8 from the free throw line and 8-for-12 from the field. She also added three rebounds and an assist.

Fisher will now set her sights on the school's 3-point record. After Monday's five 3-point field goals, she has 149 for her career. She needs 26 to break the program record of 174 set by Annie Keeley from 2003-07.

The Cobbers needed all 17 of Fisher's second-half points as they weren't able to pull away from Macalester until the final seven minutes of the final period. Concordia held at least a seven-point advantage on five occasions in the game before they were able to come out with the 17-point win. Each time the Cobbers threatened to run away with the conference contest the Scots would knock down key baskets and go on mini runs to keep the game close.

Concordia (7-4/3-1 MIAC) had their lead cut to three points at 53-50 with 7:30 to play in the second half but their depth was finally able to wear the Scots down in the final five minutes of play. The Cobbers outscored Macalester 16-4 in the final five minutes to push the final deficit into double digits.

The Cobbers were consistent from behind the arc in both the first and second half. CC was 5-for-9 (55.6%) from 3-point range to finish with 10 long-range field goals. It is only the second time this season they have reached double-digits in 3-point field goals.

Concordia connected on 48.1% (25-for-52) of their shots from the floor and 81.3% (13-for-16) from the free throw line.

A pair of sophomore guards was the only other players to score more than eight points in the game. Emma Peterson went 3-for-3 from outside the arc and finished with 11 points while Greta Walsh added 10 points and had a team-high three steals .

The Cobbers held a 36-32 edge in rebounds. Olivia Johnson grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and also had eight points. Erin Januschka and Hannah Jeske came away with six rebounds each. Januschka also had six points.

Concordia will only have one day to celebrate Fisher's career accomplishment before returning to action on Wednesday, Jan. 7. The Cobbers will host Bethel at 5:45 p.m. in another key MIAC match-up.
