Back In The Kitchen
NORTHFIELD, Minn. (1/11/25)---Jacob Cook struck again. A week after posting a double-double to help Concordia beat St. Mary's. Cook dropped a 21-point, 15-rebound special to lead the Cobbers to an 82-56 wire-to-wire win at St. Olaf.
Cook was unstoppable down low as he went 8-for-13 from the floor, 2-for-2 from distance and threw down a 1-hand monster fast break jam for good measure.
In the end Cook's third straight double-double earned CC its second straight conference win and jumped Concordia into seventh place in the MIAC standings. The Cobbers are now 6-8 in all games and 2-3 in league play.
Concordia seized control of the game from the opening tap. They scored the first eight points of the game against the Oles, had a double-digit lead before the first half reached the midway point and led 38-28 at the break.
The Cobbers repeated the process in the second half as they turned a 10-point lead into the break into a 17-point margin by scoring the first seven points of the final half.
Concordia never let St. Olaf get to within 18 points for the final 13:30 of the game which allowed head coach Tyler Bormann to play 15 players with nine CC players scoring at least two points.
The Cobbers finished the game by shooting almost identical marks from in close as well as from outside the arc. CC shot 50.8% (33-for-65) from the floor and 50.0% (10-for-20) from 3-point range. The 33 made field goals are a season high and the 10 made shots from distance tie a season high.
Cook was one of four Cobber starters who finished with a double-digit point total. In addition to his point and rebound totals, Cook also added three blocks and two steals.
Rowan Nelson went for 14 points and seven rebounds and added two assists.
Point guard Peyton Belka was 4-for-6 from the floor, 3-for-5 from outside the arc and had 11 points, while Jackson Loge was 5-for-10 from the field and recorded 10 points.
Concordia will return home to host No.15-ranked St. John's on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 5:30 p.m.
