Rudquist Named MIAC Pitcher Of The Week
MOORHEAD, Minn. (3/13/23)---March 7th has been very good to Concordia sophomore pitcher Alex Rudquist (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Lourdes HS).
Rudquist used his second consecutive win on Mar. 7 to earn MIAC Pitcher of the Week honors.
Rusquist becomes the first Cobber player to earn an MIAC weekly award this season. He is also the first Concordia player to win a conference player of the week honor since Max Boran was named MIAC Player of the Week on Mar. 2, 2020.
Rudquist earned the conference weekly award by virtue of his start against Husson in the Cobbers' 8-1 win.
Rudquist went 6.0 innings and only allowed two hits while striking out five. He also faced the minimum number of hitters in the second, third fourth and fifth innings. During that stretch, Rudquist retired 12 of the 13 batters he faced.
The win was Rudquist's first of the season and second in his collegiate career. His first victory in maroon and gold also came on Mar. 7 in Florida. Last year, Rusquist went 4.0 innings and only allowed one run in Concordia's 5-1 victory over Marian.
