Nelson Named MIAC Athlete Of The Week

MOORHEAD, Minn. (9/17/24)---Concordia first-year runner Ashley Nelson (Rice, Minn./Sartell HS) was named the MIAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for her personal-best performance at the season-opening MSU Moorhead Twilight Meet.

Nelson becomes the first Cobber women's cross country athlete to win the conference weekly award since Kara Andersen claimed the honor in 2018.

Nelson earned the MIAC award by running a time of 18:35.5 over the 5K course at MSUM. Her finishing time was a full minute faster than her previous best for a 5K.

Nelson was the Cobbers' top runner at the MSUM Twilight Meet and helped Concordia finish in fourth place in the final team standings.

Nelson will look to continue her early career success when she joins the Cobbers to compete in the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 10 a.m.
