Cobbers Kickoff 2025 Portion Of The Schedule

FARGO, N.D. (2/7/25)---It used to be the traditional start to a new season but now it's just the seventh match of the year. The Cobbers kicked off the 2025 portion of its schedule, the seventh overall match of 2024-25, by hosting perennial league power Gustavus.

Concordia couldn't overcome the Gusties and lost 9-0.

The top doubles bout of the day came at the No.3 match where Annalise Skrade and Claire Kimman fell 8-2. The No.2 doubles duo of Ava Lowman and Isabelle Smith lost 8-1.

First-year athlete Emma Farder came away with the most game wins in singles play. She started slowly, dropping the first set 6-1 at No.2 singles but had several quality rallies in the second set and got to within three games before losing 6-3.

Concordia step outside of conference play for a pair of non-conference matches next weekend. The Cobbers will face DII MSU Moorhead on Saturday, Feb. 15 at Courts Plus and then travel to Grand Forks to compete against Minn.-Crookston on Sunday, Feb. 16 at the Choice Health & Fitness Center.
