Second Verse Same As The First In Day 2 Split

ORLANDO, Fla. (3/08/23)---The second verse was similar to the first in the Cobbers' second day in Florida. Concordia split their matches on Monday, winning the first and dropping the second and that trend continued against Division II California (Pa.) and Wittenberg (Ohio).

And like Monday's split, the Cobbers came away with a 1-match win in the opener. Concordia got stellar play from the bottom of their lineup to post a 4-3 win over California. The No.5 and No.6 players continued to succeed in the second match, but the Cobbers lost a 6-3 decision to Wittenberg.

Lizzie Allan and Erin Borchard won both of their single matches on the day, while Borchard teamed with Julia Wolf to capture both of their doubles' bouts.

Concordia started the day by earning the single team point for winning two of the three doubles matches against California. Borchard and Wolf won 6-0 at No.3 singles, and then the duo of Raquel Egge and Mary Skorich secured the team point by recording a 6-3 win at No.1 doubs.

Egge, Allan and Borchard would serve up wins in singles play to help CC to the overall team victory.

Egge won 6-1, 6-1 at No.1 singles to record her third singles win in the past four matches. Allan cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No.5 singles, and then Borchard sealed the deal with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No.6 singles.

The Cobbers returned to Division III scoring against the Tigers. CC fell behind 2-1 after the doubles matches. Borchard and Wolf won 8-5 at No.3 doubles and haven't lost a match since being paired together in Florida.

Allan and Borchard earned the other two team points for Concordia – and both won in straight sets. Allan claimed a 6-0, 6-3 win at No.5 singles, and Borchard was a 6-4, 6-4 victor at No.6 singles.

Alland and Borchard are tied atop the Cobber win chart for the season. Both players have eight victories and are 8-5 on the year.
