CC Competes In Annual ITA Weekend

Results

ST. PETER, Minn. (9/22/19)---Concordia's double teams led the way at the annual ITA fall weekend held at Gustavus. The Cobbers had three of their four doubles tandems record at least one win at the meet.

Concordia had eight student/athletes compete during the weekend in St. Peter. Most of the of the CC players participated in the Gustavus Fall Invite tournament while sophomore Jenna Forknell and freshman Raquel Egge competed in singles play in the main ITA Regional event.

Both Forknell and Egge came away with one win in singles play. Forknell won 7-5, 6-4 in the first round but then fell in the second round. Egge advanced to the Round of 16 where she lost 6-1, 6-0 to Anna Stutz of Gustavus. Egge had a bye in the first round and then claimed a 6-4, 6-4 victory in the second round.

Forknell paired with newcomer Yuki Oda to win a pair of matches in the Fall Invite doubles tournament. They won both their bouts by identical 8-5 margins.

Egge and Izzi Nankivel were the other CC doubles pair to win two matches on the weekend. They won 8-1 in both matches.

Emily Savageau and Taylor Partington played only one match in doubles play but earned an 8-7 win.  

Nankivel recorded the most singles wins of any Cobber player over the weekend. She went 2-2 in Fall Invite singles play. She lost her opening-round match but then won 8-1 and 8-6 in her next two matches in the consolation rounds.
