Record-Setting Relay Helps Cobbers Finish Fourth At MIAC

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (3/01/25)---Concordia used the strength of a record-setting relay to finish fourth at the MIAC Indoor Championship Meet. 
 
The Cobbers finished the 2-day conference meet with 74.5 points which is the most since their runner-up finish in 2022. Concordia has now posted a Top 5 finish at the MIAC Indoor Meet in three of the past five season.   
 
The Cobbers' 4x200-meter relay squad of Nolan Morical, Jordan Petron, Tommy Schreiner and Trevor Tiongson started Day 2 by racing to a time of 1:28.98 which was good for second place and broke the old school mark of 1:29.31 ser at the MIAC Meet in 2023.  
 
Concordia also finished off Saturday with a second-place finish in a relay event. Tiongson was joined by the first-year trio of Brayden Carlson, Ryan Richardson and Nicholas Hasbargen and clocked a time of 3:25.19. 
 
The two relays on Saturday earned Concordia 16 of its 44 team points.   
 
The other big point push came from shot put crew had three athletes finish in the Top 8. Senior Cooper Folkestad led CC with a second-place finish while Blake Houska used a career-best distance to move into third place and Dominik Hillstrom had a season-best mark to get to eighth place.
 
Folkestad's top mark of the day came in the first round of the finals. He posted a distance of 55-07.75 which was a season best and is No.7 on the Division III list this year which will lock him into a spot at the NCAA Indoor National Meet. 
 
Houska uncorked a PR throw of 49-05.50 on his second attempt in prelims. He was seeded eighth heading into the conference meet with a mark of 48-10.75 and bettered that by 6.75 inches to record his first career All-Conference finish.
 
Hillstrom's PR came on his second attempt as well. He recorded a distance of 47-05.25 which was almost 3 feet farther than his best toss this season. 
 
Brady Goss capped off his conference indoor meet by placing fourth in the 3000 meters. Less than 24 hours after getting locked in a classic duel in the mile where he finished third, Goss clocked a career-best time of 8:30.95 in the 3K. His finishing time is the third fastest in school history.
 
First-year pole vault standout Tyler Evans posted the only other Top 5 finish for CC on Day 2. He cleared a PR height of 13-11.75 in his first collegiate conference meet and placed fourth. 
 
Petron and Gabe Thompson finished off the individual team scorers for Concordia. Petron was eighth in the 200 meters with a season-best time of 22.53 and Thompson was seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 43-08.00.
