Top 10 Depth Propels Cobbers To UND Title

GRRAND FORKS, N.D. (2/21/25)---Concordia had a plethora of top ten performances as they come away a first-place finish at the UND Tune-Up. The Cobbers took first out of six schools and were over 30 points ahead of second place. and host school, UND.
It was the sprinting events that carried the Cobbers as they put five athletes in the Top 10 in the 60-meter dash and six in the Top 10 in the 200 meters.
Tommy Schreiner led the Cobbers in the 200. Schreiner ran a personal-best time of 22.46 (22.87c) placing second overall. That currently ranks 13th in the MIAC this year. Following behind him was Jordan Petron who was third with a time of 22.54 (22.95c). Trevor Tiongson and Nick Hasbargen both ran 23.04 (23.46c) placing sixth and seventh.
The 60-meter dash saw four Cobbers qualify for the finals. Gauge Alsen ran a personal-best time in the finals, placing third with a time of 7.28. Nolan Morical placed fourth in the finals. His prelim time of 7.24 was the fastest of his two marks in the event on the day. Petron ran a personal best time of 7.26 in the prelims but did not start in the finals. Yuki Tei rounded out the Cobbers who qualified for the finals. Tei ran a personal best time of 7.37 on his way to a seventh-place finish.
The Cobbers went 1-2 in the 60-meter hurdles. Joey Molstre and Josh Peterson both ran personal best times. Molstre ran a time of 9.12 and Peterson ran a time of 9.78.
Tiongson came back to take second in the 400 with a time of 50.29 (51.09c). Ryan Richardson took fourth with a personal best time of 51.53 (52.36c)
Distance runner, and mile record holder, Brady Goss ran half of that race and competed in the 800. He ran a personal best time of 1:57.49 (1:59.17c) on his way to a sixth-place finish.
Rounding out the track events was the 4x400 relay. The team of Brayden Carlson, Goss, Richardson and Tiongson took first place with a time of 3:30 (3:34.09c)
The Cobber field athletes got into the act by also producing a bunch of Top 10 finishes.
Schreiner was the only field event winner. He won the long jump with a leap of 22-01.75. Ben Peterson was third with a season's best jump of 21-00.50 and Nick Hasbargen got a personal-best jump of 21-00.00, finishing fourth. Those jumps rank 15th and 16th in the MIAC this year.
Peyton Johnsrud and Peyton Kessel both jumped 6-01.50 in the high jump, taking second and fourth. Tyler Evans took second in the pole vault with a jump of 13-09.75.
The Cobber throw crew had another strong showing. In the shot put, CC was led by Cooper Folkestad who took second when he unleashed a throw of 53-04.50. Blake Houska took fourth with a throw of 48-05.50 and Dominik Hillstrom recorded a season-best throw of 44-08.75. That throw ranks him 12th in the MIAC this year. Houska also came back to take fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 42-11.50.
The Cobbers will head down to Saint John's to compete in the 2025 MIAC Indoor Track and Field Championship. The heptathlon will start on Thursday, Feb. 27th with the track and field events starting Friday at 4:00 p.m.
