Cobbers Can't Get Over The Top At Carleton

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (1/18/25)---Concordia made several runs at Carleton in the teams' game in Northfield, but each time the Knights had an answer and the Cobbers lost 93-84.
 
Concordia cut Carleton's lead to a pair of points on three occasions in the second half and every time, the Knights put together point streaks to keep CC away from the lead. 
 
The loss is the second straight for the Cobbers who are now 6-10 in all games and 2-5 in the MIAC. Carleton wins for the second time in the last three games and ups their overall record to 10-6 with a 4-4 mark in league play.
 
The Cobber frontline duo of Jacob Cook and Rowan Nelson combined for 52 points, while junior guard Peyton Belka put up 16 points to give the trio 80.9% of the team's scoring total. 
 
Cook posted a career-high 29 points on a 12-for-18 shooting performance. He also went 4-for-6 from outside the arc. Cook also came away with 10 rebounds to record his fourth double-double in the last five games and sixth of the entire season. 
 
Cook is now averaging 19.2 points per game in conference play which is fourth best in the MIAC. He now leads the league in rebounding with an 11.6 average. 
 
Nelson came away with his top point total in conference games this year. He went 9-for-13 from the floor, a similar 4-for-6 from distance and finished with 23 points. 
 
Belka added three 3-pointers to post his 16 points. 
 
Concordia finished the game by shooting 50.8% (31-for-61) from the field, 44.4% (12-for-27) from outside the arc and 52.6% (10-for-19) from the foul line. The 12 made 3-pointers are a season-high for the Cobbers.
 
Carleton's statistical advantage came at the free throw line. The Knights made an identical 31 field goals as CC and even had three fewer 3-pointers but they made 12 more free throws as they went 22-for-27 from the line. 
 
Concordia will return home and host Macalester on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 5:30 p.m.
