Cobbers Fall In Conference Opener At Bethel

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. (12/04/24)---Concordia was outscored by 10 points in the second half and lost 60-57 at Bethel in the conference opener for both teams. 
 
The Cobbers are now 3-4 in all games while Bethel wins for the fifth time in the last six games and moves to 5-2.
 
Concordia built a 32-25 lead at the halftime break by shooting 45.2% (14-for-31) from the floor and having a commanding 24-8 advantage in points in the paint.
 
Concordia's lead hovered around the 6-7 point mark for the first 7 minutes of the second half. The Royals were able to go on 7-0 run to tie the game at 39-39 but then the Cobbers responded with a 5-0 stretch to retake the lead. 
 
Concordia held a 5-point edge at 51-46 with just over 5 minutes to play and then Bethel closed out the game on a 14-6 streak.
 
The game featured seven lead changes and four tie scores. 
 
The Cobbers finished the game by shooting 38.3% (23-for-60) from the field, 22.27% (5-for-22) from the floor and 85.7% (6-for-7) from the free throw line.
 
Bethel connected on 32.8% (19-for-58) of their attempts from the floor and 29.4% (10-for-34) of their chances from distance. BU was 12-for-16 (75.0%) from the free throw line.
 
Concordia held a 46-35 edge in rebounds and a 36-18 margin in points in the paint. 
 
The Cobbers had two players finish in double figures in points. Jackson Loge was 7-for-12 from the floor and had a team-high 16 points. He also finished with a team-high seven rebounds. Junior guard Peyton Belka was 4-for-10 from 3-point range and added 15 points and five rebounds.
 
Rowan Nelson came away with seven points and six rebounds.

Concordia had five players finish with five rebounds. Besides Belka, Noah Christensen, Zach Jackson, Kaden Pieper and Erik Hedstrom all grabbed five boards in the game. 
Concordia will head to St. Peter to play at Gustavus on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 1 p.m.
