Memorial Auditorium

Memorial Auditorium is the durable, multifunctional home of Concordia basketball, volleyball and wrestling teams, and the host of exciting high school district and regional basketball tournaments.

Memorial Auditorium fills a vital Fargo-Moorhead community need for indoor arena space while enhancing the image of Concordia College in the region. It has permanent seating for 1,800 and with bleachers, can hold more than 6,000 fans.

Named to honor the veterans of World War II, Memorial Auditorium features two full-sized basketball courts – a parquet-style wood competition floor and a synthetic practice court – and new lower level locker rooms, a weight lifting room, wrestling room, athletic training and laundry facilities.

The Concordia Athletic Department and offices for Cobber varsity coaches are housed in the facility.

Memorial Auditorium was completed in 1952. The first basketball game in the arena was played on Dec. 2, 1952 and attracted a crowd of 5,500 who watched the Cobber men defeat former cross-town rivals North Dakota State University 69-59.

Designed with exceptional foresight for anticipating future needs, versatile Memorial Auditorium has been upgraded and renovated several times. It is also the home of the annual Concordia Christmas Concert, which brings thousands of people to campus each December.
